Community Wellness Collaborative accepts insurance for our acupuncture services only. However, all services can be paid for using a flexible spending account (FSA) or health savings account (HSA). Read on for more information.

You can use an FSA or HSA to pay for any service.

Health savings accounts (HSAs) and flexible spending accounts (FSAs) are both accounts that allow you to save funds and use them for medical expenses. In most cases, accounts with a Visa or Mastercard symbol on the credit card are valid methods of payment for all of our services.

If you have year-end balances on your accounts that allow you to prepay for services, consider investing in a pre-paid membership or package at Community Wellness Collaborative. Your membership both ensures you’re consistently investing in your health and allows us to give back to the local community.

How to Book Covered Acupuncture Services

Community Wellness Collaborative accepts most insurance plans for acupuncture services. You may have coverage and not even know it! Oftentimes, coverage is through a third-party insurer via Kaiser, Cigna, Healthnet, Blue Cross, or another provider. 

To help expedite booking covered acupuncture services, first check your insurance card. If it’s an American Specialty Health (ASH) card, your copay will be on your card and you’ll follow the steps under Option #1 below. 

If you have another insurance provider, call the customer service number and verify you have ASH. Then follow the steps below, depending on whether or not you have ASH coverage.

If you have questions at any point, get in touch with us and we’ll walk you through what to do next. 

Option #1: If you have American Specialty Health

Once you’ve verified you have ASH coverage, ask your agent if you require a physician’s referral. If so, please make an appointment with your primary care provider to discuss utilizing acupuncture for your health care treatment.

Once you’re ready to make the appointment, call us at 619.546.4806. Be sure to tell the person who is booking your appointment that you’re using ASH so they can verify your coverage and copay. It may take ASH up to 72 hours to respond to us.

Option #2: If you do not have American Specialty Health, but see us listed as “In-Network” with your other insurance coverage

Simply call us at 619.546.4806 to verify coverage. Be sure to tell the person who is booking your appointment that you’re using insurance so they can verify your coverage and copay. It may take up to 72 hours for your insurance provider to respond to us.

Option #3: If you do not have American Specialty Health and do not see us listed as “In-Network” with your other coverage

If you do not have ASH but your insurance provider allows you to receive out-of-network services, please note:

  • You will be required to pay for your services on our sliding scale at the time they are rendered
  • We will be happy to provide you with a “Superbill” which has the necessary insurance codes to submit to your insurance company
  • You may request Superbills for past appointments; these requests may take up to 7 days to process and prepare
  • Community Wellness Collaborative does not guarantee your insurance company will reimburse for services received

All for only $189 per month!

Member credits are valid for one year after issue and roll over month to month, until expiration. Memberships require 6-month commitments and then become month-to-month agreements. After the initial six-month contract period, you can cancel your membership anytime with a 7-day notice before the next billing cycle.
You are welcome to place a membership on hold for up to 2 months at a time; please note you cannot use credits on your account while it is on hold.
Although the standard membership is only valid for one adult and credits cannot be transferred, children under 12 may use their parent/guardian’s membership credits.

Family Memberships are available!

You can also upgrade an individual membership to a family membership. Add any household member and receive an additional 2 credits a month, with a total of 5 credits to share between the two of you. 

Each new person you add to your account results in 2 more credits to your account and costs an additional $125/month each.

Members may upgrade Clinical Massage Therapy “half sessions” to a Full or Plus session using multiple credits or by paying an upgrade of $25 per 30 min upgrade. Massage Only Membership is also available.
