San Diego Healing Arts Festivals 2004 – 2011
In 2004, through the Pacific College of Health Science's Student Council, our Founder created San Diego's first "Healing Arts Festival". Over 2,000 attendees came out to Balboa Park to learn about holistic wellness practices from dozens of vendors, join yoga and qi gong classes, and hear some great music from local San Diego based artists. For the next several years, attendance and scope exponentially increased. In 2009, over 30,000 attendees joined in a single day!
Here are the details of those events:
2004 - Healing Arts Festival (featuring B-Side Players, Al Howard & K23 Orchestra, Gregory Page)
2005 - Founding of the official organization and restructuring (Founder takes Acupuncture Board Exams)
2006 - Healing Arts Festival (featuring Al Howard & K23 Orchestra, Wise Monkey, Anya Marina)
2007 - Healing Arts Festival (featuring Elijah Emmanuel, Steve Poltz, Al Howard & the K23 Orchestra)
2008 - MARKET CREEK Healing Arts Festival (featuring Elijah Emmanuel) in Southeast San Diego
2008 - Healing Arts Festival (featuring Pato Banton and B-Side Players)
2009 - Healing Arts Festival (featuring Ozomatli, Greyboy Allstars, Buck-o-Nine)
As we built up our storefront wellness center, we moved our main event to Normal Heights. Here we were able to work with the Adams Avenue Business Association's "Roots Fest on Adams" to combine our event with an existing acoustic music street fair:
2010 - Healing Arts Festival on Adams (as part of the Adams Ave ROOTS Fest)
2011 - Healing Arts Festival on Adams (as part of the Adams Ave ROOTS Fest)
When we turned our focus more to patient care at our clinics, these festivals came to an end. However, we still participate every year in the Adams Ave Unplugged and Street Fairs with music for our Open House events.
